Now this is some exciting beauty news, this week I was invited along to the New Zealand launch of Garnier BB Cream! News of BB creams has been all over the UK beauty sites and I have been waiting for it to hit our shores!
So what exactly is BB cream? BB stands for Blemish Balm and they were first developed in the ’50s by a dermatologist as a treatment to help heal skin after surgery, but in 2006 BB creams made it into the mainstream in Asia, then Europe, then the UK and now NZ!
The Garnier BB cream is called ‘Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream’ and it has a hybird formula that combines the hydrating care of a BB cream with a light touch of make-up (plus SPF 15). So you can use it as a one-stop treatment, moisturiser and base. It has the consistency of a tinted moisturiser, but a tip from the lovley Ganier people; you can use one coat of the BB cream, let it dry and then use another layer of cream.
So, what does this Miracle Skin Perfector promise…?
Garnier promise that the Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream will reduce sun spots and imperfections and in just one application it will protect, moisturise, unify and brighten your skin. So here is a before and after pic to show you Garnier Mirackle Skin Perfector BB cream in action.
Recently my skin has been absolutely disasterous and to top it all of I have a coldsore scar that won’t go away! You can see in the before and after picture, that the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream has really made a difference! It’s evened out my skin-tone, hidden a whole host of blemishes and generally perked up my face (I do have a wee bit of the cream covering my eyebrows however!).
In the before pic I have a completely naked face and in the after pic I have 2 layers of Garnier BB cream on (that’s it, nothing else)
The idea of BB cream is that it will work like a base as soon as you put it on, but over time if you regularly use it, the BB cream will improve your skin.
I’m going to test this miracle BB cream for a couple of weeks and report back! I do have high hopes for it because it has received such rave reviews.
Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream comes in two shades; light and medium and I’ve used the light shade.
A couple of wee negatives: the finish of Garnier BB cream is very dewy, so if you like a more matte finish, or if your skin is oily, you’ll need a powder over the top. Also I’m not convinced that the medium would be dark enough for darker skin tones, which is a shame.
But, first impressions? I am impressed – I can’t wait to see if it will improve my skin over time as well. You can buy Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream from supermarkets and pharmacies in New Zealand and it has the absolute bargain price of just $17.49!
