So it’s no secret that I was super-excited about the gorgeous Iris Apfel for MAC makeup collection and today I managed to test some of it out!
There has been a really limited release of the Iris Apfel makeup collection in NZ I am sorry to say, but my twitter friend @spanna1805 let me know that it was released yesterday at Smith & Caughey’s in Auckland and Kilcaldie & Staines in Wellington, so I raced into Queen Street Smith & Caughey’s today at lunchtime and it was already nearly all sold out!
They had 3 of the Iris Apfel for MAC lipsticks so I tested them out and here are the swatches:
The picture above was taken in natural light but out of direct sunlight. The Iris Apfel for MAC Party Parrot was my favourite out of these 3 lipsticks. It’s just unbelievably gorgeous! A rich, creamy, heavily pigmented bright warm pink lipstick – perfect!
All three of these Iris Apfel for MAC lipsticks have absolutely amazing texture and finish, but the colours are definitely not for the faint hearted.
The three colours are:
- Iris Apfel for MAC Scarlett Ibis lipstick – a bright warm red lipstick
- Iris Apfel for MAC Pink Pigeon lipstick – a bright cool pink lipstick
- Iris Apfel for MAC Party Parrot lipstick – a bright warm pink lipstick
Unfortunately the only Iris Apfel for MAC lipstick Smith & Caughey’s Queen St had left was Scarlett Ibis and I had my heart set on Party Parrot! According to the MAC girls on Queen Street, the Newmarket Smith & Caughey’s has some of the Iris Apfel for MAC collection as does Kilkaldie & Staines in Wellington. If the Queen Street branch is anything to go by, if you want to get your hands on the collection, get in there as quickly as you can!
While I didn’t manage to buy the lippie I wanted I did get my hands on a bottle of Iris Apfel for MAC nail polish! I bought the bright orange Oriele Orange nail lacquer, which I will test out asap and show you the results!
