I’ve just run out of the amazing Inika Liquid Mineral Foundation I’ve been using for the past few months, but had a lovely surprise when I found the new Clarins Ever Matte Liquid Foundation and Ever Matte Shine Control Powder Compact in my post box.
I’ve been wanting to switch to a matte finish foundation for winter, I love a dewy finish for summer, but think it looks a bit odd to have a dewy sheen in the winter-time and when you’ve got greasy combination skin like me, it takes some serious management to maintain a matte finish!
Clarins Ever Matte SPF 15 Oil-free Skin balancing Foundation
Ever Matte foundation is a shine-control, balancing foundation that has what Clarins calls a plant-based “Skin Detox” complex which regulates production of excess sebum in skin and helps tighten pores.
The texture is fairly light and creamy and smooths on perfectly, while it is oil-free and designed to mattify, it’s not drying at all. I find that even though my skin is very shine-prone I also tend to get dry patches as well (ah the joy of combination skin!) and the Ever Matte foundation gives me a lovely finish. The finish is matte, but not at all mask-like. I do still need to use my concealer on the broken veins in my cheeks though.
Clarins Ever Matte foundation doesn’t last all day on my shiny skin without touch-ups, but to be honest I think I’d be hard-pressed to find a foundation that lasted all day long without looking too heavy and clogging my skin.
Clarins Ever Matte Shine Control Mineral Powder Compact
The Ever Matte powder has an ultra-fine, comfortable texture that evens the complexion with a transparent finish and comes in the usual beautiful gold Clarins compact.
I’ve been using my Clarins Ever Matte Shine Control mineral powder brushed really lightly over my t-zone, where I’m particularly shiny.
You can buy Clarins from selected Farmers, pharmacies and department stores across New Zealand from the 2 July.
