Florence inspired Hair and Makeup

I went to see Florence + the Machine last Monday (absolutely fabulous!) and was inspired by the lady herself to try out a  Florence inspired hair and makeup look for the weekend!

So I created a Heidi-esque braided up-do, seeing as that was how Florence was wearing her hair at the Auckland concert, and used a bright red demi-matte finish lipstick matched with matte skin.

For the base I used: Clarins Ever Matte foundation, Bobbi Brown concealer and Bobbi Brown shimmer brick

For the lips: MAC Lady Danger lipstick

For the eyes: Maybelline One by One mascara

Now I like the makeup, but I’m not convinced about the hair. I used to wear my hair like this quite often, but with my new Ombre/ Dip-dye hair I’m not so sure, seeing as the plaited ends are so much lighter than the roots they’re pinned to.

To create this braided up-do I started by spritzing my hair with the new Sebastian Potion 9 Lite spray, parted it in the middle, plaited both sides then pinned both to the top of my hair with bobby pins. I finished it all off with a liberal spray of Tresemme hairspray.

So overall, I’m happy with the makeup, not necessarily sold on the hair!
